Proudly we announce the first European AR winter school to be held at Oxford Brookes University from January 22-27.
Hailed as ‘the future of computing’, augmented reality overlays digital information on the real world. From its roots in university research labs in the late 1990s, AR is now being widely adopted in industry and, following massive investments by the world’s leading technology companies, has a clear route into the consumer market.
Together with DAQRI, we will provide a unique opportunity for participants to immerse in the topic. The event is open to the public and ideal for students who would like to conduct further research or work in Augmented Reality. The school is suited to Master and PhD students from Computing, Engineering, Media & Design, or related areas. Applicants should have experience in either programming or design, for example programming in C, C++, C#, or an equivalent programming language, mobile app development, or 3D modeling in unity3D (or similar), or related fields such as computer graphics and computer vision.
DAQRI will provide sponsorship to help cover travel and accommodation costs for selected students.

Hello everyone!
Its so nice to see the European AR winter school! I am extremely interested but I could’t make it. Do you have any plans in having another school like that in Europe later this year?
Thanks very much in advance,
Angelica
Dear Angeliki,
we at Oxford Brookes have plans to repeat this event and we intend to turn this into a regular module in our teaching programme. Also note, that there will be another summer school in the States later this year or next year organised by DAQRI in collaboration with a US institution. Once the dates are settled, this will be advertised via ARsummerschool.com!
The next European event would be planned for next year in the summer, but it depends a bit on whether we are granted the funding we applied for.
Best,
Fridolin
